Farm Kids Mini Farmers Program
October 6th
9am–3pm, $130 per child per day, ages 7 to 15 yrs
The kids become mini farmers and get set to work doing farm chores. We restock our pet chickens bedding, ensure they have fresh drinking water and clean out their chookie house. We collect manure for compost for the market garden, work on our dedicated Farm Kids garden plot and tend to our onsite worm Subpod. If the opportunity arises, we assist the farmers with their chores. They cook, create and see where their food comes from as well as experience countless opportunities to learn about teamwork, community, and ethical farming practices.
What is included?
Our Mini Farmers Program introduces children to real life farming. They get their hands dirty and learn many aspects of organic and sustainable farming.
Farm Chores
We restock our pet chickens bedding, ensure they have fresh drinking water and clean out their chookie house. We collect manure for compost for the market garden and tend to our onsite worm Subpod. If the opportunity arises, we assist the farmers with their chores.
We work on our dedicated Farm Kids garden plot and harvest produce if it is ready. If there are tasks available, we will also work alongside the farming team from the community group Liberation Larder on their market garden and learn how proper nurturing leads to healthy food production for families in need in our community. (Tasks will vary depending on what is needed to do at that time)
Cooking
We make Butter, Pesto or Nut Butter from scratch to put on The Bread Social’s, freshly baked bread for afternoon tea.
Creating
We make either lip balm, bath bombs, beeswax wraps or cute little soaps to take home out of natural products and a mini herb garden which the kids can replant at home to start their very own garden. (Activities can change depending on the group of children)

Of course, we let the kids have breaks and rest throughout the day.
