Farm Kids School Holiday Veggies YUM!! Workshop
April 14th @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm | $65 | ages 5 – 12yrs
We start the workshop with an educational, hands on and fun tour of The Farm where we specifically search for and focus our discussion on Veggies. What is a veggie and what is fruit? Is corn a veggie or a grass? We head out to the market garden to examine the different vegetables growing and the organic farming practices used. We discuss companion planting and nutritional soli. We harvest and taste vegetables from the garden (if available).
What is included?
Farm Kids tour
At the beginning of each workshop we take the children on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. We educate them about our cows, pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. We discuss concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soil and composting and other ethical farming practices. The children get up close and personal with our pet chickens and when available we taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.
Discussion Focus – What is a veggie and what is fruit? Is corn a veggie or a Grass? We talk about root veggies and bulb veggies and discuss our favourites and their nutritional value.
Craft – We make Kooky Mr Potato Heads and make corn mosaics on canvas
Cooking – We make popcorn
What to bring
– Sturdy walking shoes
– Raincoat
– Sunhat
– Morning tea snack
– Backpack (to carry above)
Where to meet
We will meet at the Farm House opposite the restaurant. Please look out for the signs to guide you. (If coming from QLD, please be aware of time difference during day light savings!)

Ages
These workshops are appropriate for children aged 5 and older. If your child is 4 they can come with siblings and you will need to remain onsite at The Farm. Children as old as 15 have enjoyed our workshops. Checkout our Mini Farmers program if you want a full day working farm experience.
