Farm Kids School Holiday Flowers Workshop
December 16th @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm | $65 | ages 4 – 12yrs
We start the workshop with an educational, hands on and fun tour of The Farm where we specifically search for and focus our discussion on Flowers. We examine parts and purposes of flowers, we smell and taste edible flowers and learn about companion planting. In craft we make bath bombs using flower essences and homemade natural lip balm out of beeswax and honey.
What is included?
Farm Kids tour
At the beginning of each workshop we take the children on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. We educate them about our cows, pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. We discuss concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soil and composting and other ethical farming practices. The children get up close and personal with our pet chickens and when available we taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.
Discussion Focus – Flowers. We discuss the parts and purpose of flowers. Taste edible flowers, examine the benefits of planting certain types of flowers to attract bees and beneficial bugs.
Cooking – We make bath bombs with essential oils and petals from the garden
Craft - We decorate timber flowers and beads to make a keyring/bagtag

Where to meet
We will meet at the Farm House opposite the restaurant. Please look out for the signs to guide you. (If coming from QLD, please be aware of time difference during day light savings!)
Ages
These workshops are appropriate for children aged 4 and older. If your child is 4 you will need to remain onsite at The Farm. Children as old as 15 have enjoyed our workshops. Checkout our Mini Farmers program if you are 7 and older and want a full day working farm experience.
