FARM KIDS | MINI FARMERs TERM 3 WORKSHOPS
Join us for an exciting full-term journey through the living world of the farm.
This term, Farm Kids will become biodiversity guardians as we explore the insects, birds, reptiles and native animals that help a farm thrive. Through hands-on investigations, creative projects, nature journalling and practical farm experiences, children will discover how pollinators, pest controllers, seed spreaders, habitat builders, decomposers and predators all contribute to a healthy living ecosystem
PROGRAM
Grounded in Northern NSW farm ecology and regenerative farming principles, this program helps children understand that healthy farms work with nature rather than against it. Each week combines real observation, creative making, movement, discussion and stewardship, giving children meaningful ways to notice, respect and care for the living world around them.
Thursday 30 July: Bees, Flowers and Farm Food
9am to 3pm | Children explore the role of bees and other flower visitors in growing food, supporting flowering plants and maintaining biodiversity on a regenerative farm.
Thursday 6 August: Butterflies and Transformation
9am to 3pm | Children discover the life cycle of butterflies and other pollinators, learning how these tiny creatures support flowering plants and healthy farm ecosystems.
Thursday 13 August: Meet the Pest Control
9am to 3pm | Children investigate the creatures that help keep pest populations in balance, from ladybirds and spiders to praying mantids, skinks, frogs and insect-eating birds.
Thursday 20 August: Helping Nature Keep Balance
9am to 3pm | Children learn how healthy farms work with natural predators and pest controllers, rather than trying to control everything artificially.
Thursday 27 August: How Plants Travel
9am to 3pm | Children explore how seeds travel through wind, water, animals and people, and how seed spreaders help plants move, grow and regenerate.
Thursday 3 September: Homes, Corridors and Habitat
9am to 3pm | Children discover how wildlife needs safe homes, movement corridors, food, water and shelter to support a resilient farm ecosystem.
Thursday 10 September: Nothing in Nature Goes to Waste
9am to 3pm | Children explore nature’s clean-up crew, discovering how rot, decay, poo, worms, fungi and beetles help recycle nutrients and build healthy soil.
Thursday 17 September: Predators and Misunderstood Creatures
9am to 3pm | Children learn about predators, scavengers, reptiles and birds of prey, and how these misunderstood creatures play an essential role in farm balance.
