Event Description
Join us for an eight-week, hands-on Farm Kids Mini Farmers program designed to nurture curiosity, creativity and a deeper connection to nature.
Across Term 1, children will explore real farm life through science, creative projects, gardening and animal encounters. Each session focuses on understanding sustainability, reducing waste and learning how everyday choices impact the planet. Learning is practical, playful and grounded in lived farm experiences.
Children will build confidence, teamwork skills and environmental awareness while developing a deeper understanding of how farms, food systems and nature work together.
Families can book individual sessions or enrol for the full term to receive a 33 percent discount.
TERM 1 PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Friday 6 Feb | Week 1. Sustainability – Big Picture
Focus: How our everyday choices affect the Earth and how small changes can make a big difference.
Discussion includes our impact on the planet, sustainable family practices, food miles and where our food comes from, and choices around energy, water, travel and clothing.
Activities include a weaving project using reused materials and a One Small Change brainstorm wall.
Friday 13 Feb | Week 2. What We Waste – The Problem
Focus: Understanding landfill, waste and how to reduce what we throw away.
Discussion includes what landfill is and why it matters, where waste goes, and ways to reduce waste at home.
Activities include a rubbish relay sorting game and making a DIY rag rug coaster using recycled fabric.
Friday 20 Feb | Week 3. Let’s Recycle – Solutions
Focus: Recycling and composting as systems that return value to the Earth.
Discussion includes how local recycling systems work, how to recycle correctly, and composting and soil health.
Activities include bottle cap mosaics and recycled craft creations.
Friday 27 Feb | Week 4. Clothing – The Story Behind What We Wear
Focus: How clothing choices impact people and the planet.
Discussion includes the difference between natural and synthetic fibres, the environmental impact of fashion, sustainable clothing choices and low tox washing practices.
Activities include redressing the scarecrows using second hand clothing and a make a bag workshop using recycled fabrics.
Friday 6 March | Week 5. Paper – Trees, Time and Resources
Focus: Where paper comes from and why trees matter.
Discussion includes how long trees take to grow, how paper is made and how recycling paper helps care for forests.
Activities include tree ring art and counting and making recycled paper.
Friday 13 March | Week 6. Natural Dyes and Paints – Creative and Low Tox
Focus: Exploring colour, skin health and nature friendly alternatives.
Discussion includes how dyes and chemicals can affect people and waterways and the benefits of gentler alternatives.
Activities include sun print and sunlight pattern experiments and a colour kitchen lab using natural pigments.
Friday 20 March | Week 7. Nature Craft – Creativity from Country
Focus: Respectful foraging and sustainable creative practices.
Discussion includes choosing sustainable craft materials and what it means to forage respectfully on the farm.
Activities include creating seed pod creatures and making clay impressions using natural textures.
Friday 27 March | Week 8. Grow Your Own Garden – Caring for Country
Focus: Gardening basics and soil health.
Discussion includes how to start a garden at home, why compost and healthy soil help plants grow strong, how seeds germinate and how seasons affect growth, and what companion planting is.
Activities include building a bug hotel and planting a seedling to take home.

Meet at the Farm House opposite the restaurant.
Please follow signage on arrival. If travelling from Queensland, please note the time difference during daylight savings.
AGES
This program is suitable for children aged 5 to 12 years.
Children aged 4 may attend with older siblings, however a parent or guardian must remain onsite.
