Farm Kids School Holiday Medicinal herbs Workshop

WEDNESDAY 19TH JANUARY 2022

9.30am – 12.30pm | $70 | ages 5 to 15 yrs.

 At the beginning of each workshop we take the children on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. We educate them about our cows, pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. We discuss concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soil and composting and other ethical farming practices. The children get up close and personal with our pet chickens and when available we taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.

Discussion

• Healing properties of medicinal herbs

• Use traditionally and currently

• Culinary herbs and edible flowers

• Hunt for medicinal herbs in the garden and discuss what we find

• Work on our garden plot & water seedlings

Activities

• Collect flowers and herbs to put into our soaps.

• Make cute little soaps with essential oils, using herbs and flower petals collected from the garden 

• Paint a little pot and pot up some medicinal herbs

WHAT TO BRING

Children will need:

• Sturdy walking shoes

• Raincoat

• Sunhat

• Healthy lunch box and water bottle for the day

• Backpack (to carry above)

• All items need to be labelled

WHERE TO MEET

We will meet at the Farm House opposite the restaurant. Please look out for the signs to guide you. 

(If coming from QLD, please be aware of time difference during day light savings!)

AGES

These workshops are appropriate for children aged 5 and older. If your child is 4 they can come with siblings and you will need to remain onsite at The Farm. Children as old as 15 have enjoyed our workshops. Checkout our Mini Farmers program if you want a full day working farm experience.
