Farm Kids School Holiday Chickens Workshop
June 28th @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm | $70 | ages 5 – 15yrs
We start the workshop with an educational and fun tour of The Farm focussing in on our animals particularly our Chickens. We sensitively discuss animal (chicken) welfare and healthy farming and egg production. We make honey piklets with fresh eggs and honey from the farm and use the eggshells from cooking to create egg people with watercress hair.
What is included?
Farm Kids Tour
At the beginning of each workshop we take the children on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. We educate them about our cows, pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. We discuss concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soil and composting and other ethical farming practices. The children get up close and personal with our pet chickens and when available we taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.
Discussion Focus – Healthy chickens = Healthy Eggs
Cooking – We make honey piklets from farm fresh honey and eggs.
Craft – We upcycle the egg shells from our cooking to make egg heads with watercress hair.

Where to meet
We will meet at the Farm House opposite the restaurant. Please look out for the signs to guide you. (If coming from QLD, please be aware of time difference during day light savings!)

Ages
These workshops are appropriate for children aged 5 and older. If your child is 4 they can come with siblings and you will need to remain onsite at The Farm. Children as old as 15 have enjoyed our workshops. Checkout our Mini Farmers program if you want a full day working farm experience.
