Farm Kids School Holiday Native Bee Workshop
December 21st @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm| $65 | ages 4 – 12yrs
Today we focus in on the native bee. We start the workshop with a native bee hunt through the market gardens and macadamia orchard. In craft we make a fabulous clay native bee hotel and make beeswax wraps to replace the dreaded plastic wrap.
What is included?
At the beginning of each workshop we take the children on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. We educate them about our cows, pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. We discuss concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soil and composting and other ethical farming practices. The children get up close and personal with our pet chickens and when available we taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.
Discussion focus – Fascinating facts about Australia’s native bee population and their integral role in our country.
Craft – we make a fabulous clay native bee hotel
Cooking – We make natural lip balm with beeswax and honey
