FARM KIDS | APRIL SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS

  • The Farm Byron Bay 11 Ewingsdale Road Ewingsdale, NSW, 2481 Australia (map)

Kids love our full day Mini Farmers Program, as they get to fully immerse themselves in

becoming mini farmers for a day and set about doing the all-important farm chores. Chores

include collecting eggs, checking the fences, clearing paddocks and more, dependant on the

season. They cook, create and learn where their food comes from, as well as experience

countless opportunities to learn about teamwork, community, and ethical farming practices.

At the beginning of our half day Workshops we take the children on an educational and fun

tour of The Farm. We get up close and personal with pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops and

wander through the herb gardens, orchard and vegie crops. We taste, touch, smell and discuss

concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soils and

composting and other ethical farming practices.

The children experience cracking and eating

fresh nuts, picking seeds, herbs, veggies and flowers and collecting eggs from the beautiful,

friendly chickens. After the tour we head back to the farmhouse where each day has a different

point of discussion, from cooking and creating to gardening and art and craft.
