Three Blue Ducks Sea Fed Beef - The World's First Low Emission Steak

A World-First Low-Emissions Steak Now on the Menu at The Farm

Good food starts with good farming. It’s a simple belief that guides everything we do at The Farm. That’s why were proud to introduce something new and incredibly exciting from our mates at Three Blue Ducks, the onsite restaurant here at The Farm. The Three Blue Ducks are now serving up something pretty special: the world’s first low-emissions steak. It’s called Sea Fed Beef, and it’s a game-changer for the way we grow, eat, and think about meat.

This 100% Australian-reared, free-range Black Angus beef is raised on nutrient-rich pastures without antibiotics or hormones. The difference? These cattle receive a small daily supplement of SeaFeed™—a natural innovation developed by our friends at the Australian based company Sea Forest, using native red seaweed (Asparagopsis). Just a little bit of this seaweed in their diet helps cut methane emissions by up to 67%.

A Small Shift. A Big Impact.

Methane is one of the most potent greenhouse gases we’re dealing with today—more than 80 times more powerful than carbon dioxide when it comes to warming the planet. So tackling it is crucial, and this beef shows how thoughtful farming can make a difference.

“We’re in a decisive decade, where we have to meet a 43% emissions reduction target as a country,” says Sam Elsom, CEO of Sea Forest. “Every little bit counts—from solar panels on rooftops to a small amount of seaweed in livestock feed. One reason to embrace this beef is the impact. The other? It’s just bloody good.”

By working with Sea Forest, the Ducks are helping pave the way toward more sustainable, regenerative food systems—something we care deeply about here at The Farm. From composting and crop rotation to animal systems that nourish the soil, everything we do is connected. Sea Fed Beef fits right into that bigger picture of farming with the future in mind.

Real Change, One Meal at a Time

With this new addition to the menu, diners at Three Blue Ducks can enjoy a premium steak that’s better for the planet—without compromising on flavour. It’s another example of how great food and conscious choices can go hand in hand.

We’re proud to work alongside people who care deeply about where food comes from and where it’s going. This is what happens when farmers, scientists, chefs and communities come together to do things differently.

Come by, pull up a chair, and see what it means to eat with purpose.
