Seasonal planting of crops and why climate is so important
We pick and taste veggies from the garden.
What is a veggie and what is fruit?
Is corn a veggie or a Grass?
We talk about root veggies and bulb veggies and discuss our favourites and their nutritional value.
Activities
We pick and taste veggies from the garden.
We work the soil and plant some veggie seedlings in the Liberation Larder vegetable plot.
We make fun little Mr Potato Heads with growing hair.
We make homemade tzatziki and cut up fresh veggie sticks and to enjoy it with.
WHAT TO BRING
Children will need:
Sturdy walking shoes
Raincoat
Sunhat
Healthy lunch box and water bottle for the day
Backpack (to carry above)
All items need to be labelled
WHERE TO MEET
We will meet at the Farm House opposite the restaurant. Please look out for the signs to guide you.
AGES
These workshops are appropriate for children who are interested in farming, energetic and willing to work. 5yrs to 15yrs.
EXTRA SERVICE
If you are a working parent please discuss with the Farm Kids Manager if you need your child to start early or finish later than the designated program time so as to get to and from work. For an extra fee this can be arranged.
