Grow Cut Flowers — Spring
A Practical Introduction to Growing Sustainable Cut Flower.
By Poppy & Fern | 26 & 27 June 2026
Grow Cut Flowers — Spring is a hands-on, two-day winter workshop designed to set your cutting garden up for a spectacular spring.
June is a crucial moment in the growing calendar. It’s when foundations are laid quietly — soil is prepared, seedlings are nurtured and plans are put in place — so that when spring arrives, gardens are ready to burst into colour. This workshop focuses on exactly that preparation, giving you the knowledge and confidence to grow abundant spring flowers from September onwards.
Led by Jess Connor of Poppy & Fern, this practical workshop is ideal for beginners, home gardeners and anyone wanting to grow seasonal flowers with intention.
What You’ll Learn
The best spring-focused flowers to sow in winter, including anemones, ranunculus, sweet peas, larkspur, calendula and more
How to prepare and care for your garden during the cooler months
Techniques for warming soil and protecting young plants
Designing a cutting garden for spring colour, variety and flow
Succession strategies for long-lasting spring blooms
Seed starting, pricking out and transplanting
How to grow for shape, height and strong stems
All techniques are demonstrated step by step and designed to be accessible for all experience levels.
Why Winter Matters
A great spring garden starts in winter. Giving plants time to establish strong roots now means they’re ready to grow quickly and flower generously as the days warm.
You’ll leave with a clear plan, freshly sown seeds and the confidence to carry your garden through the final weeks of winter and into spring.
