This tour is designed for Practitioners of Permaculture, Food Forestry, Agroforestry and Syntropic Farming that wish to refine their skills in management and design of of Tree Based Regenerative Food Production Systems.
In this project, our team have transformed over an acre of pasture into a diverse, intensively cropped Food Forest combining the commercial production of annual vegetables with long term fruit, nut and timber trees. The majority of this system is now between 3-5 years in its evolution so this is a great opportunity to explore various stages of succession in an intensive, diverse food forest system.
We have a passion for growing the seasonal foods of many cultures throughout the world and would like to share some our favourite crops and how they fit into our multi-strata, successional production systems.
Our system has proved remarkably abundant through drought, floods and the socio-economic upheavals of the last few years – continuing to provide consistent food production with growing resilience and we would like to share some of our wins and obstacles in navigating through these challenges.
Our vision is to continue to expand our area of production by using diverse food growing as means to regenerate forests.
NOTE: For those without hands-on experience in this work, we run Introductory Food Forest tours about once a month - so head back to our events page to check out dates for the next one.
