Get your hands dirty and experience that magic of growing flowers from seed. Join Jess in this 2 day intensive as she guides you through the fundamentals of growing flowers, sustainably. 

Be inspired, learn the skills and build your knowledge while you establish an abundant cutting garden in your own backyard (or balcony). 

Jess will share her love and passion for growing cut flowers, focused on her favourites.

THIS COURSE WILL TEACH YOU

1. Which flowers grow best in your area 

2. When to start planting / designing a planting schedule 

3. Building a garden bed from the ground up or growing in pots, plant layout and spacing

4. Germination from seed, bulb and tubers

5. Planting, digging, storing and dividing Dahlias

6. How to look after seedlings

7. Compost. feeding, soil health

8. Watering, irritation and keeping plants healthy

9. Weeds, bugs and pests 

10. Harvesting, processing, conditioning Blooms and Vase life

11. Designing market style bunches and wrapping flowers

12. Growing flowers to sell / business plans

13. Plus, learn Jess's favourite tips and tricks to encourage plants to give off as many flowers as possible.

All techniques and tasks will be demonstrated carefully and will be fun for all ability levels. 

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

If you love the idea of creating a cutting garden but aren't sure where to start, this program is for you!

Jess will provide a planting guide and step-by-step seasonal actions. At the end of this course you will leave with a tray full of sown seeds, the confidence to get your plants in the ground and the skills needed to look after your garden full of blooms.

This workshop is held outside in the elements and very hands on! Please expect to get dirty. Wear covered shoes and breathable comfy clothing. Bring along sun protection and a water bottle (it will be hot). Lunch is not included but we will stop from a break, so you can either bring your own or purchase from Three Blue Ducks (there will not be enough time to go into Byron).
