Two Day Introduction to Biodynamics
With Hamish Mackay and Charlie Arnott

7th and 8th of November 9am - 5pm

What is Biodynamics?

Biodynamics is a holistic, ecological, and ethical approach to farming, gardening, food, and nutrition.

Proven for nearly a century all over the world, biodynamic methods promote the creation of organic matter, enriching and deepening topsoil and significantly improving its ability to retain water, sequester carbon and achieve fertility and balance. And is a cost effective and personally rewarding method of producing high quality food and fibre. Whilst based on the work of philosopher and scientist Rudolf Steiner, Biodynamics integrates our current scientific understanding of plants, animals, soil and ecosystem function with the acknowledgement of the spirit of Nature, and identifies mankind’s intimate and unique relationship with this web of life. Challenging and stimulating our engagement with life on Earth as part of the Cosmos is a cornerstone of Biodynamics.

What will I learn?

An Introduction to Biodynamics Two Day workshop brings together the art and science of agriculture, teaching participants how biodynamic preparations contribute to and enhance the soil food web and introduce practical aspects needed to apply biodynamics:

  • A sound understanding of soil composition and biological dynamics

  • Enhancing the fertility in your soil

  • Managing your natural resources

  • Practical use of the biodynamic preparations

  • Developing risk management: Weeds, Pests, Diseases

  • Meeting climate change challenges: Drought, Flood, and Carbon sequestration

Applicable to home gardeners, horticulture, small intensive cropping systems, broad acre farming and animal production, each workshop is a unique collaborative and interactive learning experience guided by participants interests and curiosities. Of particular focus is the integration of the Biodynamic practices and principles into your current farming and gardening practices.

If you would you like to learn how biodynamic practice is different to and synergistic with organic gardening and permaculture methods, then this course is for you.
